Painted behind the Berlin Wall, this painting gives strong images of the life of the common man in Europe in the 1970's. Using figures that are very large and powerful, Schindler's painting shows a worker purchasing his evening meal in a local fish market. The irony in the painting, is all he can afford is a few sardines, while he stands among many large whole fish. You can see many views of this painting in The Parent Trap movie.
